About The Disaster Hunter

Tom Viscount’s life is a disaster.

In his nearly 20-year Red Cross career, Tom has been deployed to some of the biggest disasters in American history, including hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and terrorist attacks. His experiences have given him a unique perspective on these devastating events, which continue to wreak havoc and destruction throughout the world.

While at the Red Cross Tom became a sought-after speaker, conducting classes and seminars on various disaster related topics for countless businesses and organizations, including entertainment giants MTV and MGM. He has also appeared on radio and television, lending his expertise and knowledge to national news outlets such as CNN and Fox News.

During last year’s Gulf Oil Spill, Tom was asked to join a small team of environmental scientists to assess first-hand the environmental damage from this massive disaster. Flying in a seaplane for more than 300 miles over the hardest hit sections of the Gulf, Tom was given unique access to the stricken area and was then able to give valuable insights into what steps must be taken to mitigate the long-term effects of the leaking oil – insights that were initially controversial but later proved to be startlingly accurate.

Tom Currently works as a disaster response and recovery expert with a number of national and international firms and is also a freelance writer. He is now launching this compelling and interactive disaster- related web portal, where visitors can get the latest scoop and up-to-date information on local, national and international threats and incidents. Tom will enlist on-the-ground bloggers at unfolding disasters who will contribute first-hand information, pictures and video from these events. The website will also serve as a go-to site for the latest disaster information and cutting-edge preparedness tips and products.
